Today
A very leisurely start with breakfast at 9. Off to see the local markets and the incredible spices available.

TB has a particular interest in the Railway Museum. It was interesting but lacked the depth of engineering examples when compared to a museum like York. However, one message that came through very strong, was the influence of the Brits on the development of infrastructure over the years.

Then time for a little culture and onto the Mysore Palace. This was the seat of the Wodeyar dynasty who ruled the region for 6 centuries. The palace has been rebuilt several times, due to fires and damage, with the last (current) magnificent building designed by the English architect in the early 1900’s. The Wodwyar Maharaja’s ruled until India’s independence, with the last Wodeyar ruling until 1940.

After walking (no hobbling) around the palace in bare feet looking at the splendor of the design and treasures of the era, it was time for a break, so a tuc-tuc ride for a $1.30 back to the hotel for a snack

It was then time to think about the homeward leg, the route, schedules and how to manage for the timing to cover any unforeseen eventualities. It was also time to catch up with the log

So not a great deal to report, other than the first real opportunity to catch up with the BBC World news was entirely focused on Brexit and India remembering the terrorist attacks on the Taj Hotel in Mumbai 10 years ago…..a sobering thought
